Aeromexico isn’t the most popular airline or program to transfer points to but there are some niche awards/routings in the Americas that members can take advantage of in conjunction with this Amex transfer promotion. These transfer bonus campaigns are offered by Amex on a regular basis, and this bonus will be available through May 31, 2024. You can find the transfer option in your online Amex card account under Membership Rewards – Airline Transfers : Currently, Amex has two offers, one for Virgin Atlantic with a 30% bonus and Aeromexico with 20%. When you look at the details of the Aeromexico offer you see the ratio of 1000 MR points to 1,920 Aeromexico Rewards (including the 20%) and instructions for the transfer. While it says that transfers can take up to 48 hours, after doing some digging online, it appears that points usually show up within the first 24 hours. Should you transfer any miles to Aeromexico? There are some niche routes where the use of Aeromexico makes sense, and certain routings are quite affordable for business class travel using miles. That being said I’d always compare paid, revenue fares to the points. This conversion bonus is usually available 1-2x per year from Membership Rewards USA, so it’s something to consider when deciding whether to convert the points. Conclusion Amex has brought back the transfer bonus campaign for customers who wish to move Membership Rewards points to Aeromexico, this time offering a 20% bonus. Despite there being some cases where it can make sense, I probably wouldn’t transfer my valuable Amex points there and hold out for better offers – and better airlines. I don’t see anything thrilling on the award charts and selections so there is probably a better use for points with other partners.
